DUNWOODY, Ga. — Police are investigating an Oct. 16 incident in which a phone scammer threatened a woman with arrest unless she paid money.

The woman had been contacted that afternoon by someone claiming to be an FBI agent in Savannah. The caller said the woman was connected to a drug case and she would have to pay a fine in order to clear her name.

The caller then asked the woman to give her personal and financial information.

Before the woman could give that information, the call dropped. When she called the number back, the woman reached the Lawrenceville Police Department, which advised her that the call had been a scam.
