PORT ROYAL, S.C. — Private First Class Isom Thornton, 19, of Dunwoody graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on Oct. 11. 

Thornton successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at Parris Island as one of 85 recruits in Training Platoon 3072. While in recruit training PFC Thornton accomplished the following: squad leader and high sharpshooter.  

Following 10 days home on leave he will report to Camp LeJeune for military combat training, then military occupation specialty school. Thornton graduated Dunwoody High School in May.
