Vermack excels in ASA, sets relay record

The 13/14 girls from Vermack— Laura Spratling, Izzy Webber, Allie Anne Reiter and Charlotte Knippenberg — broke the ASA record for the 200 medley relay on July 1 at Georgia Tech with a time of 1:55.81. All four girls blistered the water in their individual events as well to lead a very strong Vermack team of 31 swimmers who qualified to swim in the championship round at Tech on Sunday. Thomas Harrison (2nd - 25 free, 4th - 25 fly), Tyler Speaks (3rd - 50 fly) Abby Cohen (5th - 100 IM, 6th -100 free), Maddie Cohen (3rd - 25 back, 5th - 100 IM), Jonny Slimming (7th - 50 back), Ryan Altera (5th -100 IM, 10th - 25 fly), Ashley Altera (6th - 25 fly), Liam Knippenberg (5th - 100 IM, 6th - 50 breast), Rachel Sinclair (9th - 50 breast), Richie Wagner (6th - 50 breast) and Kate Courtney (9th - 25 free) all finished in the top 10, and Max Hromis, Kolby Rothbard, Paige Cohen, Emma Harrison and Tyler Courtney all scored points for the team and helped Vermack claim eighth place overall out of the 74 teams in the league.
