The Holy Innocents’ equestrian club competed against 22 schools at the regional competition last week and earned a trip to the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Zone 4 finals in Ocala, Fla., March 22-24.
Held at Olympic Horse Park in Conyers, both the middle and upper school teams placed high in the competition and several riders qualified for individual events at the championship.
The middle school team won their division outright, and the upper schoolers took second. Individual qualifiers include: seniors Kendall Krebs and Katherine Parsons; juniors Annie Kuniansky and Savannah Cohen, plus team member Grace Porter of Marist; freshman Emmy Reynolds; eighth-grader Grace Asbury; seventh-graders Maggie Lewis, Andrea Smith and team member Caitlin Howie of Heritage Preparatory.
Senior Addie Ponder received the Sportsmanship Award.
HIES will compete in Zone 4, which covers the states of Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, and Florida.
