Dunwoody Idol, Battle of the Bands return for 2018

For the third year, the Lemonade Days festival will include the Dunwoody Idol competition and a performance by the winner of Battle of the Bands. Leading up to the festival, auditions will be held on Sunday, March 18 from noon until 3 p.m. at the Donaldson Bannister House and Gardens.

The Battle of the Bands competition will take place on the same day on the corner field and is open to the community.

Ten singers will be selected to move forward and compete for the title of Dunwoody Idol on Saturday, April 21 at the Lemonade Days Festival. The winner and runner up will be chosen by three judges, and a crowd favorite will be selected by the audience. The winner of Battle of the Bands will perform prior to the Dunwoody Idol competition.

The winner of both the Dunwoody Idol and Battle of the Band competitions will receive a full-service session of professional recording time, which will result in one finished track Both winners will be invited to perform this fall at a musical review featuring young artists in Dunwoody.

The runner-up of Dunwoody Idol will also perform at this fall event. In addition, the 2018 winner of Dunwoody Idol will be a featured performer at the 2019 Lemonade Days Festival.

Mark Gallegos of Dunwoody Music organizes and manages the competition. He looks forward to this year’s contest, adding “Dunwoody Idol and Battle of the Bands is a cool opportunity for young singers and musicians to perform for the community. We expect an even stronger turnout of singers for the 2018 Dunwoody Idol. Eight bands are expected to compete in Battle of the Bands. Each year we up the bar.”

Lemonade Days Festival is an event of Dunwoody Preservation Trust with proceeds going towards the restoration of Donaldson-Bannister House and Gardens. The 1870 home sits at the corner of Chamblee Dunwoody Road and Vermack Road. Lemonade Days will take place April 18 through April 22.
