Sandy Springs Youth Sports named Nathan Cohen and Jason Zarge with its 2012 Lee Haertel awards.
The Lee Haertel award is given annually to the 12 year old national league player (or players) who display excellence on the playing field, in addition to exhibiting utmost sportsmanship, citizenship and scholarship.
Lee Haertel was a tireless worker who donated freely of his time and talents to make SSYS a tremendous baseball program for all. He served as a coach, manager and President of the league. He was a role model for all. The Lee Haertel Award is made even more special because of the origin of this award and its namesake.
