DUNWOODY, Ga. — A Sandy Springs man contacted police Jan. 7 after he was alerted by his bank about a fraudulent check.

About a year ago, the man had put a check in the drop box for Camelot Jewelers.

In 2020, the man’s bank called to inform him that the check, which was originally for $100, had been chemically washed and cashed for nearly $10,000.

The man cancelled his bank account before contacting police.
