Lemonade Days in Haiti. Everyone loves Lemonade Days — especially the recipients of the extra past-years’ T-shirts that had filled the storage rooms of the Dunwoody Preservation Trust.

Four hundred children and adults received the shirts via the Children’s Nutritional Program of Haiti, a medical mission founded by a group of physicians and healthcare providers to deal with the staggering issues of malnutrition, poverty and natural disasters in the country. In many cases, they are the best items of clothing owned by the recipients.

Thanks to Wade Wright who coordinated the effort for the DPT, the program director there has reported back to Dunwoody with sightings of the Lemonade Days shirts all over the Leogane village.

Finishing School for the Four-Legged. It’s like a cotillion for canines: The St. Francis Pet Ministry at St. Martin in the Fields Church is offering dog training classes for the American Kennel Club’s “canine good citizen test.”

Classes will meet for five weeks beginning Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. with dog trainer Lennox Gavin.

CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs.

Cost is $125. Call St. Martins at 404-228-0753 or visit stmartins.org/pet_ministry to register.

Just a Heads Up. Another calendar year is just around the corner, and in case you were wondering, the color of the year for 2013 is emerald. Pantone, the ink folks, have named it so, so expect to see it in spring fashions, home design and more.

Meanwhile, Sherwin-Williams named a midcentury-tinged blue called “aloe — a hint of mint and lots of moxie” — as its top hue for 2013.

Benjamin Moore has named “lemon sorbet” as its color of year for 2013, a whispery tint that is evocative of the [economic] uptick.”

Let’s hope that’s true and that we’ll all be wearing lemon sorbet by early spring.
