Kindergarten students at The Davis Academy and Dunwoody Springs Elementary School have been partnering together for several years, giving the students an opportunity to learn from one another and ultimately, build community. Throughout the year, students from both schools will visit each other’s campuses for special programming.

For the first partnership activity of the 2018-2019 school year, Davis Academy students visited Dunwoody Springs Elementary School to share information about Chanukah with their kindergarten peers. Davis students hosted three Chanukah themed station activities, teaching Dunwoody Elementary students about the Festival of Lights. At each station, Davis Academy and Dunwoody Springs students joined together to complete the activities, which included: edible dreidel making, Chanukah bingo, and a dreidel graphing activity.

The Davis Academy students live by the school’s core values: community, respect, spirit, wisdom, and righteousness both on the school campus and within the Greater Atlanta Community. This partnership is not only an opportunity incorporate these values in their actions, but it was also a chance to learn from each other’s differences and to see firsthand the commonalities shared between them.
