JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — A Johns Creek man reported to police May 21 that someone pretending to be his boss contacted him through email asking for $2,000 in Apple gift cards.

The Johns Creek man, who was at home, went to the store to purchase four $500 Apple gift cards and sent the card numbers to the suspect over email. When the scammer asked the man for more money, he became suspicious and contacted police.

The man and the suspect only communicated over email, not over the phone.
