Dunwoody Eagle Scout

Alexander Kelly Sonnier

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Alexander Kelly Sonnier of Boy Scout Troop 266 was awarded the association’s highest rank, Eagle, at an Eagle Court of Honor earlier this year.

The ceremony was held in the chapel at Dunwoody United Methodist Church, the troop’s sponsoring organization. He is the son of Gary and Margaret Sonnier of Dunwoody. Alexander’s father and older brother, Andrew, are also Eagle Scouts.

Alexander’s Eagle Scout project supported the Peachtree Charter Middle School’s Band and Jazz Band program. The project included building portable music stands for the Blue Shadow Jazz Ensemble and coordinating repairs and cleanup in the band facility.

In total, approximately 120 service hours were donated by scouts, students, family, friends and the community.

Alexander began his scouting career in 2008 as a Tiger Cub in the Austin Elementary School Cub Scout Pack 494. He is now a Dunwoody High School senior who participates in marching and symphonic bands, fencing, Beta Club Honor Society and the e-sports team.
