Dunwoody residents John Stanforth, Wade Whittle, Steve Hartley, and Jeff Frame participated in the 20th Annual Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim on July 28 in San Francisco.

The Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim is a one and one-half mile event that begins in the cold water on the shore of Alcatraz Island and ends in San Francisco at the Aquatic Park. All four of the participators swim in the master swim program at the Dunwoody Baptist Fitness Center.

Despite the 57 degree water temperature and the strong currents of the San Francisco Bay all four swimmers successfully completed the Alcatraz escape. John Stanforth, coach of the master swim team, placed third overall in his age group.
